The Great Chase
by Jenny Blackmore

Twas the first night of summer,
And all through the house,
Something was stirring,
Could it be a mouse?

Rachel said ‘His name’s Fluffy,
And yes, he might bite.
But he’s usually friendly
If you treat him right’

Nicole started shrieking
‘make it go away’
As it ran down the corridor
And headed out to play

He visited Admin,
And made a new friend,
But had to move quickly
Ere Cathie started a trend

He wandered through wardrobe
Had a wee in a dress,
Then carried on travelling,
Ignoring his mess

It bypassed the kitchen,
It seems it knew well,
What happens when Barb
Senses trouble, oh hell!

We chased him down hallways
Up 3 flights of stairs
And watched open-mouthed
Him steal Debs underwear

Then it discovered
A nice little place
With blankets aplenty
And masses of space

It made a new nest
As all critters do
And made it it’s own
And settled down. Phew

Then up turned security,
Our saviours again
Except this time not really,
Julie only, not Wayne

She tried with a taser,
Handcuffs and a net,
But Fluffy was quicker…
We might need a vet

Then Rachel, quick-thinking,
An old trick remembered
A box full of poly peanuts
Had Fluffy surrendered

So GoT’s happy,
No trouble, no mess
At least, soon there wont be,
Housekeeping’s the best!

Now Barb wants to kill me
Jills threatening to too
So I’m off to the treehouse...
Well, there’s something new
